I believe the following information is accurate in relation to supermarkets and specific time periods for NHS workers and older people. As you all have an NHS badge you can utilise that to do your shopping at selected times if you wish. Please keep your NHS badges tucked away until asked for proof as we have had some staff getting their ID’s stolen!
Tesco – reduced opening hours from 6am to 10pm. Also NHS staff can attend Sundays from 9am to shop but tils are not open until 10am. Last weekend this caused bedlam so I don’t recommend you do this. To check your local Tesco store, visit: tesco.com/store-locator/uk/
ASDA has also reduced their opening hours from 6am to midnight. They are prioritising NHS workers in larger stores Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am – 9am. To check your local store’s opening hours, visit: storelocator.asda.com
Sainsbury’s opening hours have also changed to 8am – 8pm. They are reserving Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8am -9am for NHS staff, disabled and vulnerable customers. To find the opening hours for your local store, visit stores.sainsburys.co.uk
More recent info: Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be open to the elderly between 8am and 9am every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. NHS workers have a dedicated slot between 7.30am and 8am Monday to Saturday at Sainsbury’s.
Aldi don’t seem to be reserving space for elderly or NHS staff. Their hours are 8am – 8pm. To check your local store, visit: aldi.co.uk

Iceland – Each day, elderly shoppers can now visit between 8am – 9am to get their shopping first. The final hour of trading Monday to Saturday will also be for NHS staff only.To check local store’s opening times, visit iceland.co.uk.
Morrisons The supermarket has introduced an NHS hour at all of their stores every day, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8am. To check opening hours for your local store, visit groceries.morrisons.com

Waitrose Although opening times have not yet changed, Waitrose do currently have measures in place for the elderly, the vulnerable and those who look after them in, with a prioritised and dedicated shopping hour every day. Co-op haven’t made changes to their opening times, but are restricting purchases to two per customer on some products, including hand sanitiser, soap, tinned goods, pasta, rice, long-life milk, sugar, baby food and nappies. To check opening hours for your local store, visit: finder.coop.co.uk/food
